Hemoptysis
(coughing up of blood from the lungs)
The
site of blood coming from mouthalong with coughing generates a great
anxiety for layman. If the bleeding is a mild one and does not continue
for more than 2 hours, all that is needed is :
- Reassurance
- Bed
rest
- Sedation
Most
important is to keep away anxiety. If bleeding is profuse :
Patient
hould be immediately rushed to hospital or doctor be called . Since
suffocation is due to flooding of tracheobronchial tree is most
common cause of death, therefore by the time professional help is
available patient should be tipped over the edge of the bed with
the head down so that blood wells to the outside and does not choke
him.
